Travel guide to Copenhagen- where to stay:

  •  Lets start with where to stay, there are of course a plethora of options in a city as popular and sprawling as Copenhagen, from hotels to AirBnB’s- I chose to split my time between two hotels, one for practicality reasons, and one for the bougie factor! The hotel I chose first was Zoku hotel, while it is a little south of the city buzz it was only a two minute walk from the metro which had me in the centre of the city in ten minutes. Zoku is more of an apart-hotel than just a hotel, with a small but well appointed kitchenette, with everything you need to cook a simple meal or make an early cup of coffee while the city wakes up. The best part of this hotel is undoubtedly the incredible top floor reception area, walls almost completely made of glass is a beautiful place to watch the sunrise.

  • Manon Les Suites: The epitome of luxury and relaxation at Manon Les Suites, where every corner exudes Moroccan-inspired elegance. You may have seen photos of this iconic pool, it’s a Moroccan style haven in the centre of Manon Les Suites. Only available to residents, it’s worth booking this hotel not only for the pool, but also for the beautiful rooms and other facilities! When it comes to staying at Manon Les Suites, just a heads-up—it’s definitely on the higher end in terms of cost. So, if you’re on a tight budget, you might want to explore some other options. But if you’re down to splurge a little for a luxurious stay, trust me, it’s totally worth every penny. Think of it as an investment in comfort and indulgence.

Where to get the best coffee

  • Andersen Bakery: My favourite coffee stop in Copenhagen, it is super close to Zoku, just a 15-minute walk or a quick metro hop away. Their cinnamon buns are out of this world, every-time i visit Copenhagen this is my first stop and I will ALWAYS get a cinnamon bun with my coffee, regardless of time of day, speaking of coffee, it is really good- reasonably priced and they have oat milk for us dairy free people!

Hans Coffee: When you need a break from exploring, swing by Hans Coffee. It’s this cozy basement joint where you can warm up with a hot drink and map out your next move- its also a lot more central than Anderesen, so if you’re staying in the city this is another great option.

What to see

  • Nyhavn Harbour, the most famous and photographed spot in the city it truly is incredible and worth a visit. My top tip- get out for sunrise, its easier to get an uninterrupted view of this beautiful harbour and as the morning light stretches across the harbour, the houses seem to glow. My favourite thing to do is people watch; from locals working on their traditional wooden boats moored in the harbour, to tourists sitting outside restaurants drinking coffee and watching the hustle and bustle of the streets.  It’s a gorgeous place to visit regardless of time of year, but around Christmas, it’s like a fairy tale. Lights strung along the harbour twinkle in the dusk with  little wooden stalls selling Glühwein and snacks. You can’t miss Nyhavn, no matter how many photos you’ve seen there is nothing like seeing it with your own eyes.

You have probably seen photos of the interior of this unique and beautiful building, but Its elegant interior is matched only by the awe-inspiring vistas it offers, showcasing Copenhagen in all its glory from above. the best panoramic shot of Copenhagen you could ever imagine. And the best part? No strenuous stair-climbing required—just a smooth, spiral ramp that winds its way up. So, whether you’re a history buff or just in it for the instagram-worthy views, the Round Tower won’t disappoint. Plus, it’s smack dab in the middle of the city, so you can easily swing by between other sightseeing stops, its worth adding this one to your itinerary. What to do

  • Tivoli Gardens: Tivoli is magic, an amusement park in the middle of a city isn’t quite what you might expect but that just makes it all the more special. A truly whimsical amusement park that transforms into a winter wonderland come Christmas. Lose yourself amidst towering Christmas trees, quaint cabins selling churros (100% recommend grabbing some of these!), coffee, Glühwein and everything in between, while an endless array of twinkling lights ignite the holiday spirit! Don’t forget, you are in a theme park! Take the opportunity to remember your inner child and spend an hour twirling and spinning and flying through the air enjoying the rides in the cold clear air, lights glittering below you. The cost of entry in 2023 was 150KR (Around £20) and FYI, this doesn’t include the cost of rides.

Gasoline burger- Gasoline Burger offers a refined take on the classic burger experience. Each burger is expertly prepared, featuring a flame-grilled patty nestled between premium buns. From traditional cheeseburgers to gourmet options, they also offer an epic veggie option- their own mushroom based invention. Its not the cheapest place to eat and the locations are few and randomly far between, also with standing room only to chow down if you’re eating in its not exactly a high end experience but I will go back every single time I am in Copenhagen, honestly one of the best burgers I have eaten (I’ve eaten a lot!)
